This course focuses on classroom and teaching strategies for the development of communication skills with students who have autism spectrum disorders. Students will learn the characteristics of typical language development, atypical language development in autism, functional communication training and behavior analytic approaches to teaching communication. Prerequisite: Admission into Special Education Bachelor of Science in Education (SPEDBS), Birth through Kindergarten Bachelor of Science Human Environmental Sciences (BRKDBS), or departmental consent.
