OCTH 51003. Theory and Foundations of Occupational Therapy. 3 Hours.

The broad theoretical basis of occupational therapy (OT) will be mapped. OT theory development, the historical foundations, major paradigm shifts, current theoretical trends, and philosophical assumptions that have developed across the profession's life span and continue to shape occupational therapy practice are explored. The emergence of occupation-based models of practice and theories that impact OT's evolving domain and process will be discussed, with emphasis on the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework: Domain and Process (OTPF). The evolving definitions of occupation and its relationship to health, well-being, and participation will be examined. Corequisite: °¿°ä°Õ±áÌý50001.
