This course will provide future teachers with a sequenced method and resource materials to teach jazz songs, style, and improvisation by ear and from sheet music in instrumental and vocal ensembles. The course will also address ensemble rehearsal techniques and teaching individual students. The teaching content includes a variety of songs from the jazz tradition appropriate for students in middle school, high school, and college, along with tools for assessment of student progress.
