This course includes overviews of major jazz styles, significant musicians, related historical events, and critical approaches in the field of jazz studies. Students will build skills in active listening, transcription, and academic reading and writing while expanding their familiarity with musical techniques and the cultural history of jazz. Prerequisite: 惭鲍厂颁听10103 or 惭鲍厂颁听101贬3. (Typically offered: Fall)
