MEEG 59603. Advanced Fracture Mechanics and Structural Integrity. 3 Hours.

This course provides an in-depth treatment of advanced topics in fracture mechanics such as stress analysis of cracks under elastic-plastic loading, crack initiation and growth under elastic-plastic and time-dependent creep and creep-fatigue conditions. The course emphasizes fundamental underpinnings of nonlinear fracture mechanics and its use in material evaluation and life prediction methodology for structural components. Micro-mechanics of fracture and crack growth processes are also covered. Prerequisite: ²Ñ·¡·¡³ÒÌý59503, or µþ²Ñ·¡³ÒÌý59503, or °ä³Õ·¡³ÒÌý59503 or equivalent, or instructor consent. (Typically offered: Fall and Spring)
