Examination of letterform construction, including anatomy and architecture. Analysis will take place through a historical lens, exploring technological and cultural contexts. Students will begin to understand typographic nuance and connotation. The grid will be introduced as a means to understand layout and organize typography. Prerequisite: 础搁罢厂听19139 and 础搁罢厂听19239 and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design majors only. (Typically offered: Fall)
